IoT NOx Monitoring of Vehicles Demonstrates Ability to Cut Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emissions if Widely Implemented – Impacting Climate Change

K&A Wireless Wins CES 2018 Climate Change Innovator AwardALBUQUERQUE, NM – 04 JANUARY 2018 – K&A Wireless LLC (the “Company” or “K&A”) has been selected as a Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Eureka Park Climate Change Innovator Award winner for 2018. K&A, with its commercialization partner SensorComm Technologies, has developed an IoT-based mobile pollution monitoring system (Wi-NOx™) that has demonstrated the ability to cut greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, if widely implemented.

Award winners of the Climate Change Innovator Award will be recognized and presented a plaque on “Sustainability Day” at CES in Las Vegas on Thursday, January 11, 2018, from 12:45pm – 12:55pm at the CTA Stage and will be live-streamed on the CES website (ces.tech). Organizations judging the entries included representatives from industry, academia and environmentally focused non-profits.

Wi-NOx™ provides real-time measurement and monitoring of NOx emissions at the point of origin where pollution enters the environment. The Wi-NOx™ sensor is installed at the tailpipe of consumer and commercial vehicles in the transportation and smart city segments. Wi-NOx™ operates independently of other vehicle parameters and is the cornerstone of a global pollution mitigation strategy.

GHG Reduction, Climate Change and Sustainability

GHG REDUCTION: Monitoring tailpipe emissions can identify inefficiencies in overall vehicle performance, reduce pollution levels through driver behavior initiatives and result in significant annual fuel savings. For example: just a 5% reduction of average NOx produced, measured by our key proprietary metric, can lead to a 15% improvement in fuel efficiency based on worldwide applicability and impact testing of the Wi-NOx™ system. This translates to a 0.61 metric ton/vehicle reduction in CO2 equivalents for U.S. vehicles based on Federal Highway Administration weighted average combined fuel economy of 22 mpg (2017) and average vehicle miles traveled of 11,443 per year (2015). There are an estimated 263 million registered vehicles in the U.S. and 1.2 billion registered vehicles globally.

SUSTAINABILITY and CLIMATE CHANGE: Wi-NOx™ enables socially conscious smart cities and individuals to effectively practice sustainability. The system is designed for individual citizens, city and transportation managers who are investing in (socially responsible) solutions that embrace cleaner air, lower healthcare costs and improved quality of life.

VENUE: CES is the world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies. It has served as the proving ground for innovators and breakthrough technologies for 50 years — the global stage where next-generation innovations are introduced to the marketplace. CES is owned and produced by the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) and attracts the world’s business leaders and pioneering thinkers.
